My wife and I are delighted to welcome you to boarding at St Edmund’s. We very much consider everyone living within our community as being members of one large family, and we hope that you will soon settle into routines and feel completely relaxed, comfortable and at home.
Boarding at St Edmund’s is exciting and fun and it will help you to become fully independent, to create deep and lasting friendships and to integrate wholly into the life of the school community. Our boarding houses will allow you to thrive emotionally, socially and academically. The experience of boarding also cultivates leadership, teamwork and tolerance; skills we nurture and develop in all our pupils.
Your safety and wellbeing are of paramount importance to us, and this is why there are clear and simple rules regarding your conduct within the boarding community. Respect for others is fundamental, and we expect excellent behaviour from all members of our community at all times.
An important part of the care of a supportive family is that you can approach us at any time – Mrs. Jones and I will always be nearby. Should you feel uncertain about an issue, you would like a little advice about a matter important to you, or you would just like to chat about something, you will always be welcome to visit our flat. We live centrally within the boarding community and we hope that you will pop by whenever you want to. Never feel lost or lonely, just knock at the door.
Whether you live inside the main school building within Owen House, Baker House, the New Wing or School House, or a short walk away in Clare House, Gorsefield House or Sunfield House, we are very much one large family. Our team of wonderful residential staff is here to care for you and to help provide a happy, settled and safe environment. We hope that you will quickly get to know your residential tutor and us – we are always here to help.
