Making a contribution

The Foundation will only be able to achieve its aims through the involvement and support of the whole school community. This includes current and past parents, teachers, pupils, alumni and friends of the school, as well as members of the public. The Foundation has many options for involvement:

  • Giving your time and support
  • Making a donation
  • Giving tax efficiently via gift aid

We welcome the School community, past and present, to become involved in our activities.

Making a Donation

The success of the Foundation is dependant on the regular support. There are a number of ways in which you could give to the Foundation including online donations using the CAF online link given above, standing order, payroll giving, legacies, bequests or gifting of shares or securities. Over the years the School has received a number of these options, which continue to be most graciously received.

Tax Efficient Ways of Giving

There are many ways in which to give to the Foundation utilising the tax rules to increase the amount received by the Foundation and/or provide the donor with a tax rebate.

Donors that pay income tax or capital gains tax may make tax-efficient donations to the Foundation using Gift Aid. This allows the Foundation to reclaim the basic rate tax (currently 22%), on the grossed up donation, from the Inland Revenue. This means that the donation is worth an extra 28.21% to the charity eg. a donation of £100 is worth £128.21 to the Foundation. This simply requires the individual to confirm that they pay an amount of income tax or capital gains equal to the tax the Foundation claims on their donations.

You may wish to consider giving a single donation using the Gift Aid form. This form may be applicable to any of the contributions that you would like to make. Although it seems a small contribution at the individual level, it is of great collective benefit to the Foundation's aims, when all contributors make use of Gift Aid.

If you wish to make a donation or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Foundation Office: Telephone: 01227 475600 ext. 432 Email: foundation@stedmunds.org.uk.

We welcome the opportunity to provide further information about the options available.
