O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works do proceed; Give unto thy servants that peace which the world cannot give; that both our hearts may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee, wee, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our saviour. Biography
Christopher Marlowe (1564-1593) was the son of a Canterbury shoe maker and he gained a scholarship to The King's School as a Choral Scholar. In his short life he wrote many plays including "Doctor Faustus" and "Hero and Leander" and he was a contemporary of Shakespeare (born in the same year). It is thought that he was murdered in 1593 in Deptford, London and there are theories that suggest that this may be connected to the fact that Marlowe was some sort of government agent.
