John Mann, James Hawkes, Lizzie Ferrar and Katherine Tinker show their delight at their A Level results.
Exam Results 2007
GCSE
94% of pupils gained 5+ A* - C grades.
The following 13 subjects recorded a 100% pass rate at A* - C:
Art, Ceramics, Chinese, Drama, English Language, English as an Additional Language, Geography, German, History, Music, Religious Studies, Russian and Spanish.
Given the broad ability range at GCSE, these results were a great credit to the pupils, many of whom exceeded expectations.
Please note that Government performance tables do not include IGCSE. In common with many other independent schools, St Edmund's pupils now take IGCSE Mathematics and, therefore, there will be a discrepancy in the figures quoted in different tables. Independent schools are also now excluded from value-added tables in which St Edmund's performs exceptionally well.
A-Level
With a pass rate of 99%, and 71% of pupils scoring either A or B in their A-levels, this was the best ever set of A-level results for St Edmund's. Nearly one quarter of all pupils scored three A grades or more.
Most pupils have gained their first choice university place and will be going to universities throughout the country, including Oxford, Imperial College London, Bath, Exeter and Warwick. Other pupils have been successful in securing places at specialist music, art, and drama colleges.
Once again we had a number of pupils who scored marks in the top ten of the entire entry for that subject nationwide. This applied to two pupils in music technology and one in music A-level.
We are particularly proud of the achievements of our sixth form pupils who have once again excelled themselves in their A-level papers. These results are the culmination of two years of hard work on the part of both staff and pupils, who share the credit for this outstanding set of grades.
