Exam Results 2011
A Level Results - 18 August 2011
Pupils from St Edmund’s are celebrating outstanding A level results. The average points score per candidate was the best ever, at 343. Oliver Lawrence is the first pupil from the school to secure 4 A* grades at A level – as well as finding time to be a national standard equestrian and a fine cornet player! He is one of the three pupils in the small sixth form to have secured a place at Oxford or Cambridge. The Deputy Head, Mrs Janet Mander, said, “There is a lot of press comment about A levels becoming more accessible, but no-one should underestimate the sustained effort that has to be made to achieve high grades. I am delighted that the hard work of both pupils and their highly-committed teachers has paid off, and am very proud of the academic achievements of those in the school, at all levels of the ability spectrum.”

GCSE Results - 25 August 2011
St Edmund’s School Canterbury is celebrating the outstanding results of many of its individual students. James Hitchcock gained 10 A* grades, posting exceptional performances across the board. He was not alone in the strength of his grades: in a small cohort, one fifth gained 8 or more A* and A grades. Mrs Mander, the Director of Studies said, “Examination success comes from a combination of aptitude, attitude and application. We are proud of our record in ensuring pupils achieve their full potential, whether that be in attaining the highest academic success or developing other artistic, sporting, musical or creative talents.”
Overall, 89% of our Year 11 pupils gained five GCSEs (including Maths IGSCE) with A* - C grades.

Please note that Government performance tables do not include IGCSE. In common with many other independent schools, St Edmund's pupils now take IGCSE Mathematics and, therefore, there will be a discrepancy in the figures quoted in different tables. Independent schools are also now excluded from value-added tables in which St Edmund's performs exceptionally well.
