The Senior School Library

The Senior School library at St Edmund's is a well-equipped resource, with over 12,000 titles on our shelves, as well as a wide range of English and foreign language magazines and periodicals. We have a broad selection of fiction to please all readers, from the more reluctant to the passionate, and our DVD collection consists of over 700 titles, from Shakespearean tragedies to Hollywood blockbusters. Alongside the older established subject areas, we have invested heavily in the newer ones, with, for example, Psychology, Photography and Film Studies being constantly built-up.

We aim to create a welcoming atmosphere in the library, as well as ensuring that it is a working environment. Pupils can choose individual workstations (carrels) or share double tables and there are 6 computers available for those wishing to carry out further web-based research. Those with laptops can also enjoy access to St Edmund’s wi-fi for Internet access at their convenience. The Library has a lively programme of clubs, competitions, author talks and book fairs to suit all ages and suggestions for new initiatives are always welcomed.

Alternatively our excellent Library Monitors are often on hand to offer friendly and informed advice. The library is staffed between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm, and is open between 8.30 am and 10.30 pm.
