The Senior School Day
The daily programme for the Senior School begins with registration at 8.30, followed on different days of the week either by Chapel, Tutorial Time, House Lines (assemblies) or Headmaster's Line. The first two lessons of the day run from 9.05 to 10.20, after which there is a break when pupils can socialise, buy snacks from the servery, visit their House or Sixth Form rooms, and generally prepare for the second half of the morning's lessons. These run until 1.20pm on Mondays to Fridays; we finish earlier on Saturdays, at 12,40pm.
Once pupils have taken lunch, there is time for a range of activities, including rehearsals for the various music ensembles. Pupils can also make use of the IT suite and the Library over lunch.
Lessons resume after lunch at 2.25pm and finish at 4.20pm. Games and activities are programmed for the various years of the Senior School in the afternoons, alongside academic teaching. Once lessons finish for the day, pupils have time for other activities, including additional games, extra tuition in our academic 'clinics' and various music ensemble rehearsals.
Day pupils will leave after lessons and activities, whilst boarders take their supper at 6pm, followed by an opportunity to relax, and then supervised prep. The length of prep differs by year, but for all, prep is followed by a light evening snack. After this, boarders prepare for bed: 'lights-out' is from 9.45pm depending on the age of the pupils.
Chapel services on a Sunday are voluntary, but all are welcome, including parents. Weekend exeats and Sunday leaves may be taken by boarders, subject to their Houseparents' permission. Additional weekend activities for boarders are organised both on and off the school campus.
