Warneford’s Easter Extravaganza

2017_warneford_easterOn Tuesday March 21st Warneford House hosted its Easter Extravaganza.  Leading up to the event each tutor group was set a challenge to decorate two Easter bonnets and to create an Easter centrepiece. Individual entries were also encouraged and these were most impressive. A huge thank you goes to Mr Lorentzen (Maypole Marquees) who so kindly loaned Warneford a small marquee for the event. This was set up with a sweet counter and housed refreshments and prizes.

On the sheep field Tor Lorentzen, House Captain, ably assisted by our team of House prefects set up and ran fun old school sports day competitions such as the sack race and egg and spoon race. These were thoroughly enjoyed by all and rewarded with Easter themed prizes. Ms Florence ran a Jarping competition using the boiled eggs the pupils had decorated that day.

The display of decorated hats and centrepieces was impressive and judging was challenging. There were prizes for the best overall junior and senior tutor group entries. The junior prize was awarded to Mr Sykes’ group. Eloise Newman-Brown’s fantastic cake was the deciding factor for that particular category. The senior prize was tricky with so many competitive tutors jostling for first place. On this occasion Mrs Burton and her group stole the show, with each tutee producing their own hat, a terrific centrepiece and a display of creatively decorated eggs. Mrs Burton as always fully in the spirit of the event took top spot with her chicken outfit.

Individual prizes were awarded to Mini Kane, Emma Day and Beth Ling for their wonderful hats and to Georgia Knox for her beautiful Easter wreath.

It was a terrific evening, if a bit cold however, we were all temporarily warmed up when the pizza delivery arrived and the fantastic house spirit and natural sense of fun brought all the warmth needed to make this a lovely event. A special mention must also go to Ben Shepherd who provided musical accompaniment that really added to the positive atmosphere.
