Two Violins, Two Singers, Two Harps and a Piano
The line-up for today’s Senior School lunchtime concert was gratefully received as an oasis of calm in a busy schedule of summer exams and report writing. Emily Hopper and Emily Kirsch-Mills began working together during their A level practical sessions and today they took time out of their revision programme to perform an accomplished violin duet by Boccherini. Aidan May (bass) and Freddie Rupp (tenor) were our singers performing Mozart and Quilter, respectively. Timon Staehler gave a stunning performance of Mendelssohn’s Andante and Rondo Capriccioso, drawing cheers from the audience. The concert was brought to a close with a beautiful harp duet by Emily Hopper and her teacher, Ms Mary Morley – perhaps the last opportunity they will have to perform together for a while, as Emily prepares to pack up her harp for the Birmingham Conservatoire in September.
