The Pre-Prep’s Harvest Festival

2017_pp_harvest festivalIMG_7048The Pre-Prep celebrated Harvest Festival in the Chapel with songs, poems, stories and music. It was lovely to see so many parents and grandparents join us for this special service.

Mrs Exley and the Chaplain received Harvest gifts from the children as they processed into Chapel, accompanied by Yasar’s beautiful violin playing. They created a display of all the fresh and tinned foods which will be given to Catching Lives, the local charity for the homeless.

The Ladybirds performed a Harvest poem and the Honey Bees created pictures to tell us about the story of the Little Red Hen. They delighted us with their enthusiastic singing of ‘Mr Scarecrow’. The Crickets showed us foods that come from around the World and the Dragonfly class shared their recipe for Harvest which they had composed themselves. Eliana sang ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ with such poise, with the Dragonflies joining her for the chorus. Both KS1 classes sang ‘Super Sun’, a jazzy and rhythmic piece depicting the power of the sun during harvest time.

The service ended with a Harvest blessing by the Chaplain before returning to Pre-Prep for tea.
