Junior School Summer Concert
Over seventy pupils were involved in a varied and enjoyable Junior School Summer Concert on Wednesday evening. The Wind Band opened the proceedings with their vibrant rendition of The Godfather Theme and Green Onions. Both Junior School Choirs sang with gusto and their punchy arrangements and well-projected sound was delivered with confidence. A range of talented young soloists performed expressively and with polish; the vocal soloists were Edith Burton, Caspar Barton Hodges and Felix Preston. Two pianists, Yasar Zhao from the Dragonflies and Ami Watters from Form 3 performed technically demanding repertoire, demonstrating their fluid and clear fingerwork. To end the concert, the East Kent Children’s Orchestra played two pieces, King William’s March and the overture from Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet, only to be interrupted during the second piece by a rogue fire alarm. All was well and the concert ended successfully in good spirits.
Thanks go to Mr Swatman, Mrs Futcher, and Mrs Martin-Smith for preparing and conducting their respective groups. A big well done to all performers involved!
