Senior Inter-House Basketball
Date: Wednesday 21 November 2007
There may be some readers old enough to remember Basketball at St Edmund's before 1987, and before the arrival of the Sports' Hall. The Old Gym, a congested court, spectators hanging off the wall bars, and Baker House maintaining its sporting reputation.
This year's senior tournament had many of those qualities of yesteryear: huge spectator interest, aggressive play, some quality shooting and defensive work, and a Baker win!
The competition. played on a round-robin basis was effectively decided by the second game of the six, when Warneford surrendered a four point lead, and went down 4 - 5 to Baker. Baker then beat both Wagner and Watson convincingly to clinch the title. Warneford came second, with two wins, Wagner third with just the one win over Watson, who brought up the rear.
Many thanks to all the players who provided entertainment and excitement, and to Mr Millard for organising the whole event - this week and last!
