Abingdon House pupils enjoy reading to raise money
Date: Wednesday 5 December 2007
During the last two weeks in October and the first two weeks in November the children in Abingdon House participated in a National Reading event that is held in schools annually. All the money raised is donated equally between CLIC Sargent and The Roald Dahl Foundation. The money is spent locally, caring for children and young people suffering from cancer, Hodgkin’s disease, leukaemia, epilepsy, blood disorders or acquired brain injury.
Twelve children completed the challenge, by reading a set number of books, or if they were too young, having stories read to them. Between them they raised the magnificent sum of £480.00.
Well done to Piers, Matthew, Oliver and Molly in the Ladybirds, Kyle in the Wrens, Christian in the Robins and Toby, Sophie, Matty, Patrick, Freddie and Rosalind in the Owls.
Readathon raised £1.1 million last year to help sick children and more information about the campaign can be found on www.readathon.org.uk
