Form 6 Pirates' Party
Date: Tuesday 18 December 2007

Avast, me hearties!
Mrs Lawrence and Form 6K have been reading Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" and learning about pirates.
A pirates' party was held on December 17th at the 9 o'clock watch. But first the crew had to learn the 32 parts of a schooner. Knowing fewer than 18 on the day of the test meant you were a landlubber and not allowed on board. Happily the crew passed with flying colours and no-one was keelhauled!
There were games, songs, and victuals (the rum tasted surprisingly much like apple juice), including biscuits. The crew tapped the biscuits to check for weevils!

After the test three quartermasters, a boatswain, a gunner's mate, and able seamen were appointed. Everything ran 'shipshape and Bristol fashion'. Ooh arrrh!
