A Surfeit of Sport - Tuesday January 22nd
Date: Tuesday 22 January 2008
Seven fixtures - 3 boys', 4 girls - five wins, two defeats - and a thoroughly entertaining afternoon to boot!
The boys' Under 14 Hockey XI notched a first win of the season with a 2 - 1 victory over Sir Roger Manwood's. Goals from Callum Stokes-Newens and Lewis Piper, plus an impressive performance from tyro keeper William Park brought the win.
The Under 15s travelled to Sutton Valence, and won 3 - 1 with the goals coming from Kemp, Clarke and Penn. Always nice to come back from Sutton with three points!
The Pilgrims did gain some revenge for the 1sts' defeat of yesterday with a 2 - 0 victory at the UKC Astro. A brace from in form Nick Clapham secured the points.
Junior netball sides travelled to Sandwich, and, sadly, both lost to Manwood's. The Under 15s, without skipper Jenny Wheal went down 11 - 17, while the Under 14s lost 7 - 14.
A pair of training games were played by the 1st and 2nd VIIs against the girls from Simon Langton; the 2nds won 11 - 2, while the 1sts kept a clean sheet, and eased to an 18(?) - 0 win. The 'official' matches against the Langton take place in a couple of weeks' time.
Can then Pilgrims keep up their 100% record against Sutton Valence on Thursday? We'll see!
