Netball and Hockey
Date: Thursday 24 January 2008
A chilly, sunny, wintry Thursday afternoon, and a range of Hockey and Netball matches - at home and away.
The Senior girls' Netball squads entertained Dover College, and treated their guests with scant respect, with high scoring wins for both of the home sides. The SES 2nds scored nine goals in the final quarter to finish 28 - 11 up. Man of the match was deemed to be Katie McNie
The 1sts went even better, with eleven goals in the same last quarter to win by a margin of 35 - 6. Annalisa Flood and Arabella Pemberton scored freely, thanks to some excellent supply of ball from the midfield of Natasha Hopper and, in the second half, Bertie Stokes-Newens.
Over at the UKC Astro, the Pilgrims XI were up against Sutton Valence. 2 - 2 at half time, with goals from Dominic Morgan and David Welham, from a short corner, the final score was.....,unfortunately, a first defeat of the season, as two second half goals left SV on top by 4 - 2. A good game, and no grumbles, as SV dominated most of the match.
One sentence: the 1sts lost at Sutton Valence 1 - 8; our consolation goal came from Oli Perry.
The last match of the afternoon saw another visit from Folkestone: Harvey GS Under 14s came, saw, and conquered, beating our lads 4 - 1. It was 3 - 0 at half time, and coach Andrew Middleton was heartened by the second half fight back in which Oliver Kirkness scored a good goal, as the honours were shared after the interval.
As AWJM said after the game - 'There's a lot of work to be done!' I'm sure it will!
