Yes - You might have guessed - More Sport!

Date: Thursday 31 January 2008

Thursday January 31st, and an abysmal day with lashing rain and sweeping gale force winds, but Boys' Hockey teams are not deterred by anything as ordinary as this! Four matches - Seniors against Manwood's, and the Juniors later in the afternoon against Kent College.

Sadly, but rightly, three Netball teams did NOT travel to King's Rochester for outdoor fixtures; instead the afternoon was spent in the classroom, concentrating on theory and tactics, ready for Spring to come!

Incidentally, yesterday after school, the Boys' Inter-House Squash competition saw Wagner demolish Warneford 5 - 0 to come third overall. Warneford were handicapped by the absence of three key players - Connor, Hollis, and Callaway - and so the only really competitive match was one in which David van Rooyen beat Matt Dixon in the fifth set. Both ended exhausted, but with van Rooyen edging it. The Baker - Watson final next week is moved from Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon - a clash with Hockey!

My earlier optimism was misplaced - the Pilgrims' match on the UKC 'all-weather' pitch was rained off just before the start. The 1sts did go to Polo Farm, and did play Manwood's, and did come back with a point from a 2 - 2 draw in which goals from Easter and Perry brought us back on level terms after Manwood's had taken an early two goal lead. SES dominated the second half, and thoroughly deserved a draw at the very least.

And then Danny Laslett phoned....no Junior matches v KC - to be rearranged for later in the term? Hopefully!
