Dance and the Dance Club
Date: Friday 1 February 2008
Thanks to the initiative and drive of Biology teacher Dina Ayoub, and the expertise of tutor Francine Earle, one of the most popular of 'after hours' clubs in Senior School is the Dance Club which meets on a Thursday afternoon, and has a membership of a dozen or so girls.
Yesterday evening our group was one who joined dance groups from eleven other local schools to put on a charity show at Vernon Holme. An audience of over 300 enjoyed eighteen different performances and helped to raise funds for children's charities, most notably Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Our group of ten, ranging from Lower Fifths like Georgia Henry through to Lower Sixths like Amanda Wong, presented a piece of 'funky' street jazz, and more than held their own against other 'professional' groups working towards GCSEs or BTecs in Dance.
Well done, Francine, and our girls!
