Sundry Items - Week Seven!
Date: Tuesday 12 February 2008
The week before half term, and as ever, masses going on in Senior School. Here are a few very brief resumes:
Monday - Under 14 Hockey team 'played much better', but lost 0 - 5 to a strong Sutton Valence side.
Monday - Mr Parsons and Miss Sears took a party or 42 Drama and Theatre Studies pupils to a performance of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' at the Gulbenkian Theatre. After a slow start, it proved to be a gripping production.
Tuesday - Two excellent victories for the Junior girls' Netball teams over Dover College. The Under 15s came out on top by a 21 - 7 margin; the Under 14s had an equally convincing 16 - 6 win.
Tuesday - A fantastic 6 - 1 win for the Under 15 Hockey Boys over Chatham House GS. Four goals to Rafi Stone, one each to Ben Kemp and Declan Connor - and the post hit three times! Will Marsh - absent - will have to fight to get his place back!
Tuesday - Another outstanding A-level Music Recital, this time featuring Annalisa Flood (Soprano) and Susannah Jackson (Flute). Annalisa's programme, 'Baroque Emotions', featured Handel, Bach and Vivaldi, and was delivered with precision, emotion, and sheer musicality. Suzy's 'Music on the Mind' was hugely demanding of both performer, and audience, with a Handel Flute Sonata being contrasted with Varese's 'Density 21.5 for solo flute', and Hue's 'Fantaisie' for flute and piano. A truly brilliant recital in every way; it was a privilege to be part of an awestruck audience.
Tuesday - A win for the Under 14 Hockey XI, 2 - 1 over Chatham House GS; another 'better' performance highlighted with goals from Callum Stokes-Newens and skipper Oli Kirkness.
Tuesday - To end an excellent day, the senior Netball Girls secured wins over the Sixth Form Girls from the Simon Langton Boys' GS! Our 2nds beat their 1sts 8 - 3; our 3rds then proceeded to beat their 2nds 10 - 8.
