Annalisa and James

Date: Wednesday 19 September 2007

The School Year, 2007/08, promises to be a vintage one, with a very strong Upper Sixth cohort, from whom the Headmaster has appointed a team of 26 Prefects.

At the helm are his Captain and Vice-Captain, who have already shown their talents and capacity for leadership only a fortnight into the year!

The School Captain is Annalisa Flood, a member of Baker House, and second consecutive girl to win the highest office, following Katie Bell. Annalisa is the 'last of the Floods' - at least of this generation! - following her sister Olivia, and brothers Christopher and Joshua through the ranks of St Edmund's.

Annalisa is renowned as a musician, an academic, and a sportswoman, in which latter role she has been a member of the Netball 1st VII for a couple of seasons, and is, this term, Captain of Hockey, where she will certainly be very busy as goalkeeper.

Her Vice-Captain is James Somerville-Meikle, a member of Watson House, and a man who has risen to prominence via a different route. He admits to no pretensions in the realms of sport or music, but is a talented academic, with particular stengths in Geography and History.  His route to the top has been through behind the scenes involvement in Chapel life, the Charity Committee, and the Dining Hall Committee - a very civil, civil servant!

Together they would appear to make an ideal combination,  bringing together a blend of maturity, personality, long experience of 'the School', and considerable respect from pupil and staff alike. We wish them, and their 24 colleagues very well indeed!
