Choristers' Concert in Cathedral Crypt
Date: Thursday 13 March 2008

Recent Sunday afternoons in Canterbury Cathedral have seen some unusual activity in the Crypt (more properly Undercroft). The Choristers of course take it in their stride singing to large congregations and audiences, making recordings, and appearing on television. Foreign tours, weddings, funerals, school events, and visits to churches are all part of their routine as young professional singers. But it is not so often they get the chance to perform instrumental music in public.

New Choir Housemaster Julian Lambert has arranged two instrumental concerts this term, held in the intimate atmosphere of the Undercroft. Each piece (mostly musical but interspersed with poetry too) is given a brief explanatory introduction by the performers - which include adults as well as Choristers. This way the boys develop confidence and have a chance to share their developing talents with an appreciative audience. High praise for all the participants and the organizer, and thank you to parents and friends for your support.
