Thursday 24th April

Thursday could have been a perfect day - but 'the best laid plans of mice and men'.....were sadly undermined by the weather, as forecast - correctly for once!
The triennial full School Photograph did survive, but at 2.30pm, and at the expense of House Photographs. Proof copies of the 'panorama' will be available for scrutiny and order in due course. House Photos will have to be rearranged, but for when - given the immediate onset of exams and study leave?
The girls started their matches against King's Rochester, but not for long as the 3.45 hailstorm drove them scurrying, drenched, from the courts.
Cricket House matches were played to the finish, in between the showers, and thanks to plenty of sawdust on the run-ups! On the Alps pitch, Wagner beat Watson by six wickets, with 11 balls to spare. Watson managed 103 for 8 in 16 overs, largely thanks to Perry's 42, and a spirited 19* from Moulsdale. Wagner, with 33 from David van Rooyen, and 34* from Peter Edlin qualified for next week's final.
On the main pitch, Warneford reached only 85 for 5 in 16 overs, and were wholly indebted to Callaway's 56, before he fell to Allen, who finished with 2 for 35. Baker's reply centred around Easter whose 60* carried them to a five wicket win with just four balls to spare. The highlight of the match - Rawlins superb fifth delivery which comprehensively beat and bowled Ben Pape - no mean feat!
So, Baker v Wagner - again! Warneford v Watson for third place!
