Tennis Champions 2008
Date: Tuesday 13 May 2008
Monday evening, after another glorious afternoon, enabled the Inter-House Tennis competitions for 2008 to reach their conclusions, as Baker and Wagner visited the UKC courts, and Warneford and Watson stayed 'at home'.
In the Boys' event, the 3rd/4th place play off saw a win for Wagner, by 2 rubbers to one, over Baker, with the decisive match being the Number 2s, where Marc van Rooyen and Henry Kirkness just outlasted Will Gillman and Oli Lawrence.
Watson are the Boys' champions after a 2 - 1 win over Warneford. Dixon and Callaway got Warneford off to the best of starts, but Ransley and Moulsdale, in three sets, and Penn and Kemp turned the tie around.
The Girls' play off was won by Warneford, with their 2 - 1 win over Watson. The tie stood at 1 - 1 after the first two rubbers, before Summerfield and Jones won a three-setter against Gladwin and McNie.
The final was a very one-sided affair with Wagner proving far too strong for Baker. 3 - 0 was the final score with the closest of the rubbers being the victory for Johnson and Kopietz, 6 - 3 6 - 5, over Pack and Hopper.
Now for the Swimming - Saturday!
