Zara Petts - National Windsurfing Champion

Following her recent success in the South East Championships, Zara Petts (age 9) competed in the Royal Yacht Association National Windsurfing Championships. The competitors, who came from all over the UK, participated in nine races held over two days at Whitwell on Rutland Water on 17th and 18th May.
Zara’s consistency and tenacity were rewarded when she was placed 4th overall and 1st girl in the Under 15 3.5m Open Class category. The race committee also awarded her a special commendation for her determination and sportsmanship.
In addition to her individual sailing, Zara also competes in the RYA Team 15 Team Racing Series and her team, Hythe Hotshots, are currently South East Champions. Zara is trained by her brother, Andrew (17) who is also a pupil at St Edmund’s and competes at international level.
