French School for Scholars

Date: Friday 6 June 2008

Form 8 exams are over for the year and, while most await their results next week, four of our pupils who sat scholarship exams over the last two terms are packing their bags for a stay at the Collège Malassise, a boarding school near St Omer in France. For four days our Form 8 scholars will become members of 'La Cinquième', joining all the lessons and activities on the curriculum along with their French counterparts.

The scholars have already achieved impressive results: Michael Marriott was awarded a major scholarship to Tonbridge School with outstanding performances in Latin, History, Maths, and Science; Yunha Hwang was awarded a scholarship to Sevenoaks with A* in Maths 2 and Science 2 as well as A in Maths 1, Science 1, and interview. Daniyal Jafree won an exhibition to St Edmund's Senior School with very strong performances in RS, French, Maths, and Science. Ranulph Tees and Henry Davis impressed King's Canterbury and Ampleforth with their papers and, though they did not win scholarships, they were excused Common Entrance on the strength of their answers. Ranulph particularly impressed the examiners at King's with his English scripts.
