The recent news that four Junior School pupils, who sat scholarship exams to a variety of public schools, are going for a residential spell at the French Collège Malassise near St Omer prompts mention of another trip to this co-educational boarding school just across the Channel.
The whole of Form 7 travelled by coach through the Tunnel to spend a day at la Malassise, where they were hosted by M. Philippe Belhoste and his colleagues and pupils. They attended Maths and English classes, sitting side-by-side with the French pupils of the 'Sixième'. A long lunch break tested their ability to socialize, then on to an informal games session - football always a common interest and 'boules' a popular alternative. To finish off the proceedings, a visit to the well-equipped common room for chocolat et Coca.
