John Mann - Former Pupil

Date: Monday 7 July 2008

Spencer Payne was kind enough to send me this review of John's recent success - and future engagements.

Ex pupil of St Edmund’s, John Mann, was selected as a finalist in a Music Competition held at St Edmund’s School, Dover on Friday 4th July open to all young musicians under the age of 20. This event was sponsored by Trinity Guildhall of London and two other local firms. After some preliminary rounds on the previous Wednesday, John managed to win first prize in the Advanced Category finalists. John, who studies violin in Spain with Sergei Fatkouline, won a three hour recording session in their Dover Studio which he intends to use, alongside his brother Alex, who is a professional singer, early in September. John also managed to win first prize in the composition section where he performed his very own piano piece ‘Lumieres electriques sous une nuit sombre’.

John will be performing a violin recital at St Peter’s Methodist Church in Canterbury on Saturday 16th August, 2008 at 7.30pm. Tickets can be obtained by contacting 01227 728533 or 07753372692.

Many thanks, Spencer - and well done, John!
