Little Laureates 2008
Date: Wednesday 10 September 2008
Congratulations to Blaise Sales, Maxim Sealey, Alex Leddy, Eleanor Booton, Libby Gambrill and Benedict Walsh on the selection of their poems for inclusion in the SE England Young Writers’ anthology of children’s verse, Little Laureates 2008. The selection was made 'on the basis of imagination, perception, spirit and expression'. The children were all in Year 6 at the time of this annual poetry competition.
Young Writers is an organisation ‘devoted to promoting reading and writing in children’ and it has promoted poetry and creative writing within schools for the past 15 years by running annual nationwide competitions. Each competition results in the publication of a collection of regional anthologies showcasing the work of schoolchildren. The British Library has over a decade of Young Writers collections in its national archive!
