Warneford Bowling Evening

Date: Friday 12 September 2008

House-based activities have now become regular features of the calendar, and Warneford yesterday started the new year in style with an excursion to the AMF Bowling arena in Tankerton. 58 pupil members of the House, plus House staff - and the House cleaner, Colin, - were bussed to the seafront for what was a fun evening, with some surprises added to the expected agenda!

Above all, it proved to be an excellent bonding exercise for the new Warneford House. All thoughts of home sickness disappeared as the new Chinese girls threw themselves - metaphorically speaking - into the lanes. Colin suggested a 'professional' past, as he never missed a strike or a spare. Euan Haines approach to the lane displayed a dramatic technique; Seth Scott Deuchar confused everybody with his deceptive button skills; Will Hollis enhanced his score by careful manipulation of the bumpers; Declan Connor and Joe Rawlins took the prize for 'creative bowling' ; senior tutor TJB was reputed to score 'strike after strike'.

Everyone enjoyed the evening - even the hour long wait for burgers and chips to be served! - and Warneford was certainly a very happy House at registration time today. Other Houses now follow - Watson to Planet Laser; Wagner with a Quiz Night; and Baker with a 'Curry'n'Questions' session.

Many thanks to the Housemasters and their tutors for such a range of social initiatives at the start of Michaelmas 2008.
