Congratulations, Andrew Knowler!

Date: Thursday 18 September 2008

For the last twelve months, whenever you have gone into the School Chapel, you may have seen the two wooden sculptures adorning the entrance - the figure of St Edmund, and a hand carved owl. The owl was an award won last Michaelmas Term by the School's Head Gardener, Mr Andrew Knowler for his participation in the Canterbury City Council's 'Wild About Gardens' scheme, and his promotion of the 'natural look' in many parts of the School grounds.

This year Andrew has gone one better, and has been awarded the highest accolade of a Gold Award in the same scheme for 2008. What his award will entail is still unclear, but the ceremony, on Wednesday October 8th, at St Stephen's Infant School, where awards will presented by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, will see Andrew receive due recognition for his efforts on behalf of Kent Wildlife Trust and Wildlife Gardening. Both these organisations will take part in the ceremony.

So, to quote from the Council's letter to Andrew - "Thank you for entering this year's Wild About Gardens Award Scheme, and many congratulations on your award."
