Girls' Hockey - House Matches and KC

Date: Tuesday 23 September 2008

The Under 15 girls' Hockey XI played its first match of the season, and met its fiercest rival in the shape of Kent College, who outplayed us on the day. Despite the valiant efforts of Nesta Wigan, making her debut in goal, the determination of Deveena Pithia, and the occasional attacking bursts from Rowan Jones, the SES side missed the talents of Gina Zahn and Georgia Henry - both unwell, and could not contain a very powerful KC squad.

The Senior girls' Inter-House semi-final between Wagner and Watson was only decided in the last five minutes when Wagner finally broke down the stubborn Watson defence, and scored three times through Arabella Pemberton, Charlotte Lench, and Annabel Chislett. Lucinda Summerfield and Louise Garrett gave their all in the heart of the Watson defence, but in the end Wagner's greater number of team players carried the day. Baker play Warneford in the second semi-final next week, before the final on October 2nd.
