Thursday's Extras

Two senior girls' hockey matches took place against Kent College yesterday afternoon. The 1st XI were on the wrong end of a drubbing, but the 2nds restored some SES pride with a creditable 1 - 1 draw at the University's Astro. Charlotte Lench scored to give SES a half-time lead, but KC fought back to equalise after the interval.

In the evening Wagner House held its new term social event, a Quiz Night - with pizzas - in the Dining Hall. Practically the whole of the House was in attendance, and nine tables fought out a highly competitive, but fun quest for general knowledge. This was a 'speed quiz' - 100 questions, and three 'marathons' all in the space of an hour and a half - and all marked by 8.45!

Not surprisingly, the official winners were the 'Eggheads' - a team of Wagner tutors; they did, however, drop 19 points out of 158. The pupil teams all did very well, and were particularly good at identifying photographs of teachers and senior Wagnerites - in their infancy. Mr Knight's youthful curly hair was apparently a giveaway!

Domino's pizzas were excellent, as was the variety of liquid (soft!) refreshment. Both helped to revitalise Ali McMaster's team, and push them into top spot with a score of 104. Many thanks to Mr Millard and Miss Sears for planning the evening, and thanks to every pupil for joining into the spirit of the occasion. It was fun for all!
