'Six Characters in Search of an Author'

Date: Thursday 6 November 2008

Theatre Studies is one of the most active of Senior School departments, and Mark Sell and Liz Sears do an immense amount to introduce their pupils to the widest available range of 'theatre'.

On this premise, yesterday evening a group of Lower and Upper Sixth A-level candidates were taken to London to the Gielgud Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue to see the latest production of Pirandello's 'Six Characters in Search of an Author'. This was a modern adaptation of a stunning piece of theatre which was both thought-provoking and entertaining.

Every member of the party enjoyed the experience, not least Mr Sell himself who felt it was the most exciting production which he had seen in a long time!

What was it all about?.... Well, that's a question which was put to Miss Sears. Her reply - "Yearning, dark desires; reality and illusion; guilt; the loss of innocence; life and death. Phew!"

In short, thoroughly worthwhile!
