Hockey: 1st XI v Ashford School
Date: Monday 10 November 2008
The girls' 1st XI is going from strength to strength, and with two wins and two draws already this season, the traumas of Michaelmas 2007 are already distant memories.
Yesterday the squad left the unplayable all-weather pitch at UKC for the calmer climes of Ashford School to take on an opposition including ex-SES Upper 5 Roberta Stokes-Newens. The boys' football match against Barton Court had to be cancelled because the 'Astro' was waterlogged!
After going a goal down in the first few minutes, the SES girls fought back to equalise through Natasha Hopper, and could have easily gained a win had chances been converted.
This was a good team performance, illustrating the real progress made under John Maylam's coaching this term. It's a pity that the season is drawing rapidly to its end!
Sorry! Final score: Ashford 1 SES 1.
