Kent Competitive Festival - Senior Piano Class
Date: Saturday 15 November 2008
Spencer Payne was kind enough to forward me these details from yesterday's competition:
Four of our Music Scholars entered classes in the Kent Competitive Festival Senior Piano Classes on Saturday 15th November. Ana Vandepeer and George Inscoe, both Form L5, won the piano duet class with a performance of the first movement of Clementi's Sonata in E Flat. Fred White and Tom Vafidis, from U5, also entered this class with a performance of the first movement of Mozart's Sonata in D.
Fred White also won an award for his performance in the Messaien class, a special section to mark the centenary of the composer's birth.
Both Ana and Fred also entered for the Freddy Kempf Silver Plate and Bursary, but were fought off by stiff competition where Nathan Hudson-Peacock (last year's Kent Festival Pianist of the Year) won the class.
A valiant attempt by four of St Edmund's aspiring young pianists. Maybe next year...
Thank you Spencer, and well done to our young musicians, yet again!
Don't forget the Michaelmas Concert, in the School Hall, on Thursday of this week, November 20th, at 7.30pm.
