Netball against King's Rochester
Thursday January 29th was a cold, crisp afternoon and both sides struggled a little with cold hands. However, King's Rochester always provide competitive matches and Thursday's was no exception. The 1st VII found themselves 3 - 5 down after the first quarter, and 7 - 9 at half-time. Our possession was good with Sam Catford and Suzannah Benham intercepting consistently well in defence but we needed to convert every chance if we were to take the lead. Our goal average improved in the second half with Jen Wheal and Arabella Pemberton regaining some of their form, but it proved to be too little too late. Final score 17 - 26.
The 2nd VII made their presence felt from the first whistle going 6 - 0 up in the first quarter. We took control of the match and never really looked under too much pressure. Strong features of the game were the linking play of Wing Defence Georgia Gurney, Centre Lucinda Summerfield and Wing Attack Charlotte Lench, and the versatility shown by Olivia Thrush who played both Goal Defence and Goal Attack in different quarters of this match. Final score - a well-deserved 20 - 10.
Netball match against the Old Girls
On Saturday 31, the School played against the Old Girls in the Sports Hall at 1.15pm. Six Old Girls present: Captain Lauren Chalk, Dina Ayoub (a long way to travel for an away fixture!), Lucy Bukht, Ceci de Suiza, Alex Ackroyd, Kate Saffrey. At short notice L5 boarder Diana Khawaldeh made up their team.
First half was close at 9 - 5, but then the 1st VII took control and finished with a 22 - 11 victory. Well done to Lulu Summerfield and Charlotte Lench who stood in admirably for Katie McNie and Arabella Pemberton who were on the Ballet trip. It was good to see so many spectators. Tea, sandwiches and cakes for all followed when there was a chance to have a chat and catch up.
Many thanks, Mrs Wilkinson!
