Choir House Shrove Tuesday Pancake Throwing Contest
Date: Wednesday 25 February 2009
On 24th February, Shrove Tuesday, the choristers took part in the inaugural Choir House Pancake Throwing contest. The brain child of our chef manager Helen, the focus was on tossing the pancake as high as possible and securing a safe landing back in the frying pan. At least one pancake made its way to a wall, where it seemed happy to stay, high up and out of reach. Having clung on for several minutes, it finally lost its grip and tumbled to the floor beneath.
It was a hard-fought contest with the contestants displaying gentlemanly decorum and mutual encouragement throughout. Our congratulations go to the champion Tom Woods, who wins the coveted 7” non-stick frying pan (and a little chocolate), and also to Tom Rupp, the champion Probationer.
