At the Duke of York's - February 28th
Date: Friday 27 February 2009
There should have been four, but there were only three netball matches against the girls from the Duke of York's RMS this afternoon, because of a spate of illnesses which decimated our senior squads.
We did not have a 1st VII - McNie, Catford, Pemberton and Blanning were all missing from the side which beat King's in the week, and so what might best be described as an 'A' VII fought hard in the cold outdoors of Dover, and lost 10 - 16, after a first quarter. Three goals in the second half were all that we could muster, despite some hard work in defence and midfield. Keep up the good efforts, and bounce back against Manwood's and St Lawrence next week!
At home, the juniors both lost. The Under 14s lost 8 - 20; the Under 15s gave what Miss Cliff described as a 'gutsy' display, with Kara Wagland and Gina Zahn to the fore, but went down 10 - 13.
It would be lovely to be able to field a full team, of fully fit players in the coming week which sees matches against Manwood's on Thursday and St Lawrence on Saturday, plus the junior House Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
