Coming Dutch!

Date: Monday 18 May 2009

For the last several years we have had the pleasure of hosting a visit of pupils from the Montessori Lyceum in Rotterdam. This year was no exception, and we certainly look forward to 2010, to continue the growing friendship between the two schools.

Eighteen pupils, of Lower Fifth age, plus two teachers, and a coach driver, arrived for lunch, spent the afternoon with us, before departing for the Victoria Hotel which will be their base for their three day visit to Canterbury.

Our pupils were exemplary hosts: Lower Sixth formers Jessica Dixon, Dom Morgan, Hannah Steffenhagen and Camilla Diefenbach answered a whole range of questions about life at St Ed's; Upper Sixth formers Ed Benson, Suzannah Benham, Emma Wink and Natalie French provided brief but informative guided tours, and, finally, Lower Fifth historians escaped from Mr Robinson's clutches to enjoy some images of Rotterdam, and some prepared talks from our Dutch guests. They were much taken by descriptions of 'party time' in Rotterdam, and evenings finishing at after 1.00am!

Thanks for coming - see you again next summer! And many thanks for the samples of local Dutch specialities - I could develop a taste for Advocaat!
