Edmonds' Shield U10 Rounders Tournament - Runners up
Date: Saturday 6 June 2009
The U10 rounders team took part in the Edmonds’ Shield Rounders Tournament at the Junior King’s School on Wednesday. With wins against Junior King’s and Northbourne Park, the girls were runners up and became the proud owners of silver medals, which were duly presented in Chapel on Thursday.
The girls got off to a strong start in the match against Junior King’s with strong batting performances from Shusmita, Lottie and Duchess and some outstanding work fielding – the best seen this season in fact - which restricted the opposition's rounders score. In the second match against Wellesley House the girls came up against a very good team and despite their efforts with rounders from Lottie, Duchess, Anna and Arabella, Wellesley House proved to be too strong. In the final match against Northbourne Park the girls produced some superb fielding with Lottie, Chloe, Shusmita and Arabella taking catches and the team working well together in reducing the scoring opportunities of their opponents. Aggressive batting from Shusmita, Lottie, Olivia, Anna, Arabella and Francesca gave the team a well deserved victory to ensure them second place in the tournament.
Well done to all the girls and many thanks to the parents who came to support the team.
