The Best Sports Day Ever

On Friday June 26^th the children from Abingdon gathered onto the lawn tennis courts by the terrace in front of school for sports day. The weather earlier in the day had looked dodgy with a heavy shower around lunch time, but luckily it cleared away and sports could go ahead as planned.

The sports this year took on a new style with all the children involved in various activities for the first half. This proved to be highly successful and enjoyed by both parents and children.

Then followed the races – two novelty races and running races. All the children collected medals at the ends.

The children, hot and exhausted, were then treated to ice lollies and popcorn, while parents were able to enjoy a cup of tea and cakes on the terrace and enjoy the view of Canterbury and the Cathedral.

Sports day was a great success and as one child was heard saying “This is the best day ever!”
