Happy Birthday Abingdon
Date: Friday 3 July 2009
On Wednesday June 30th Abingdon playground was awash with bunting, balloons and music. This was Abingdon day, when the children spent part of the morning visiting fete style stalls, having a go and collecting prizes.
The parent representatives had spent 2 hours turning the playground into a village fete. There was a bouncy castle along with other stalls such as decorate a biscuit, make a stick puppet, hook the ducks, lucky dip, beat the goalie and many more.

The children had all decorated little bags into which they collected their goodies and at first appeared to be overwhelmed by the transformation of their play area. However they soon got into the spirit of things and began to work out where to go next to avoid queuing.
Time flew by and lunch arrived. The children enjoyed lunch al fresco style with a ‘street party’ lunch followed by a number 20 birthday cake.

During lunch there were was a visit from Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter, who kept the children entertained for over an hour (not an easy thing to do in the heat).
There was just time for a quick story and calm down before going to chapel and joining parents for speeches and to say goodbye to staff and the dragonflies.
Everybody agreed it had been a truly fabulous day and a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday.
The children want to say a big thank you to all the parent representatives, who worked so very hard during the whole day.
