House Celebration Day, 2nd July

Date: Saturday 11 July 2009

After a year of intense but friendly inter-House competition, all four Houses gathered in the chapel after lunch on the penultimate day of term to hear the final scores for the annual inter-House competition. There were cheers and huge excitement as Becket claimed victory for the first time since the new House system was introduced and then the House celebrations afternoon commenced!

Becket dashed off to the pool to cool off and splash around in the blazing June sunshine under the watchful eye of Mr Penn and Mrs Relf. Despite being somewhat overdressed for the occasion, certain members of staff were also to be found in the water, enjoying the fun!

Chaucer retired to the shade of the trees by the tennis courts and were served strawberries, cream, drinks and shortbread and there was also a welcome cup of tea for the staff.

Meanwhile Roper and Marlowe were learning the finer points of Bat-n-Trap with Mr Pearce and enjoying ice creams in the sunshine.

Every half hour a bell was rung and the Houses rotated around, so that by the end of the afternoon all had swum, played Bat-n-Trap and had had their fill of strawberries, cream and ice creams!

We all had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine with all the children thoroughly enjoying their well earned treats. Special thanks to Mrs Knight, Mrs Booton, Mrs Steed, Mrs Walker Reid and Mrs Gibbons who helped with all the refreshments and to staff who supervised the activities.
