The Wizard of Oz - Folkestone

Date: Monday 24 August 2009

Mr Spencer Payne was kind enough to forward this review of

The Wizard of Oz - Friday 28th August at 7.30pm, Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone.

While most us were indulging in the summer holidays, sipping the odd glass of wine even, young Aimee Walker-Reid who is just about to start in Senior School, was hard at work rehearsing for a production of The Wizard of Oz. Aimee was selected from a very large number of entrants to play the lead role of 'Dorothy' in this production, organised and performed by the 'Kidz on Stage' Community Theatre Project.

Aimee's performance was, as one would expect, slick and polished showing just how versatile an actress and singer she is. Not forgetting of course, that Aimee had only just finished playing Eliza Doolittle in the St Edmund's Junior School production of My Fair Lady back in March. Although the lead roles had slightly longer to prepare for the production, most of the choreography with the rest of the cast was produced in two short weeks - a real achievement! Talent like this obviously runs in the family and it was also good to see Elissa and Lucia, Aimee's younger sisters, also involved in the production!

This was an amazing production and deserving of high praise. Congratulations go to Aimee, Elissa and Lucia who will now be returning to St Edmund's for a rest!
