Harvest Festival

Date: Sunday 14 October 2007

The chapel was full to capacity last Sunday for the Harvest Festival family service. Many thanks to all those families who contributed gifts of food for the homeless. Both the Junior Singers and the Abingdon Choir gave beautiful performances and there were some beautiful readings too. One of the highlights was Maxim (Year 6) reading his own poem 'Reflections about Earth':

Earth is our planet

Blue and green

Like a marble illuminating space

Its beauty is immense

Earth is fragile

Depending upon the sun

Earth is our mother

Who we should love and protect

Earth is our gift

It is a precious jewel

Magnificent mountains

Deep flowing oceans

Creatures that live

In forests of green

Let us regret

The harm we can do

By polluting the land

And cutting down trees

Instead treat the Earth

So gently, for its beauty

Should last

For eternity
