Just a St Edmund's Tuesday

Date: Tuesday 29 September 2009

The Under 15 girls' hockey team travelled to King's Rochester, and playing without the 'feistiness' of their fighting draw against the Duke of York's, they went down 0 - 5. Only Faye Moulsdale emerged with any real credit for a non-stop second-half performance. She never stopped running - a la Forrest Gump!

In the evening the new Geography Society met for the first time in the year under the chairmanship of Head of Department Danella Burren. As ever, the Drawing Room was the venue for an event well attended by all the sixth form geographers, including the four-man executive committee of Messrs Callaway, Williams, Wethered, and Foord.

The evening opened with Will Bacon reprising his Morocco experiences, with, on this occasion an 8-minute vdeo, and a slide show augmenting the bare bones of his talk. Traditional mid-evening refreshments then preceded Miss Burren herself offering two presentations: she described some of her globe-trotting past - visits to the Lake District, Iceland, and Sicily to name but three - and then turned the focus to the second week of half-term when she and Mrs Jain will be leading this year's fieldwork operations in the Lake District. The expedition will be departing on the morning of October 26th (Monday).

More society meetings will take place throughout the term; and the Under 15s will bounce back!
