Arnie Dunning - Just Champion!
Date: Saturday 10 October 2009
The squash courts at the King's School Recreration Centre yesterday resounded to the echo of ball on racquet and ball on wall, as the KSRC squash chapionships for 2009 took place.
St Edmund's Upper Sixth Former Arnie Dunning, who plays much of his squash at the Centre entered the Under 19 section, and by the end of a long day came home with a handsome trophy as winner!
There were nine entrants in toto, and during the course of the day, Arnie played and beat each of his eight rivals to end the day with a 'perfect' record of eight 2 - 0 wins, sixteen points, and a win over each of the King's School First V.
It was not easy: one of the sets went to 16 - 14 before Arnie clinched it - 'the longest set of my life!' he claimed, and his success augurs well for our School match against King's, on November 3rd.
And remember, Arnie is probably the School's number three, after Henry Withrington and Declan Connor. The November 3rd match should make good watching. Venue? - as yet unknown, but we did travel down to King's last season.
