St Edmund's School 4 Dover College 0
Date: Thursday 15 October 2009
The girls of the hockey 1st XI emulated the performance of their football-playing counterparts by scoring a 4 - 0 win over Dover College this afternoon at the UKC Astroturf.
This was a convincing win, overseen by coach John Maylam, and umpire David Whitehouse. 2 - 0 up at half-time, the girls added two more in the second period, but could have doubled their tally but for some last ditch Dover defiance.
Olivia Thrush scored three - her first hat trick of the season, and Deveena Pithia got the fourth. Tilly Chilton, making her debut in goal, enjoyed the experience, despite the fact that she did not touch the ball at all, shielded as she was by an effective defensive screen in front of her.
Dover's best player was, probably, St Edmund's 'old girl' Georgia Gurney who joined the Dover ranks at the start of the term. They clearly need a player of her calibre!
