Kent Festival Junior & Senior Piano Classes at St Edmund’s : Saturday 14th November, 2009
The annual Kent Festival Junior & Senior Piano Classes took place this weekend in the Recital Hall. St Edmund’s was strongly represented in both the Junior and Senior age ranges and was also well supported by many parents and spectators. In the Junior Classes Lily Gibbons, Alexander Thorne, Christopher O’Brien, Thomas Platts, Oliver Wells, Michael Dianellou and Theo Adler all performed with aplomb. Alexander won 1st prize in two classes, Lily gained a 2nd prize, Oliver and Michael won the duet class and Theo won 2nd prize in three classes. Overall, Theo also managed to win the Beerling Foundation Second Award for the entire Junior section.
At Senior level Guy Steed, George Inscoe, Ana Vandepeer, Tim Edlin and Freddy White represented the School admirably in a range of classes from classical, duet and jazz repertoire. Although the first and second prize was out of reach this time for our pupils, Ana and Freddy managed to secure joint third place in this tough competition. The adjudicator, William Fong (Head of Keyboard Studies and a Professor at the Royal Academy in London) was very complimentary about the performers and gave useful advice and well-deserved praise to all concerned. Well done to all entrants!
