Basketball: Staff v School

It is very difficult to find inter-School fixtures for basketball, so, to keep interest at a high level prior to the start of the Inter-House season, Mr Millard rushed from the stage - yesterday evening - to Sports' Hall this afternoon to captain a staff side against the School's senior team.

The match ended in a 61 - 38 win for the staff, whose side was strengthened by the inclusion, by invitation, of 'Pally' Sandhu and his son, who plays local league basketball. Spectators were impressed by the organisation and competitiveness of the staff squad, which included, in addition to Millard, Sandhu and Sandhu, Nick Hodge, who scored at least ten points from underneath the basket, Antony Jones - fresh from JS sport, and JS tea! - and, again by invitation, Mr Yong Kuk Kim of the Middle Fifth.

Arnie Dunning and Ricky Ng battled hard for the boys, but, for once, age and experience carried the day over youth and enthusiasm. Well done, staff!
